Then, catching the gale horizontally, a V-shaped blow tore mist across the surface, followed immediately by the barnacle-studded callosities of a heavy Southern Right head breaking the foam to square up against the surge. As the gale peaked, the massive, sleek dark contour of its back rode parallel through the trough, a quiet monument of resilience carving grace through the chaos of the deep.
